9to5Google claims to have discovered information about a new camera feature headed to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Incidentally, high-resolution renders of both devices leaked last week. According to the website, it managed to force-enable 'Video Unblur' UI in a new version of the Google Photos app.
For now, the feature is inoperable. However, the force-enabled UI shows that Video Unblur will allow you to adjust its strength by 100 increments. Conceivably, Google could open Video Unblur to non-Pixel smartphones, like Magic Eraser. Photo Unblur remains a Pixel 7 series-specific feature though, which suggests that Google could restrict Video Unblur to its next-generation flagship smartphones.
Potentially, Video Unblur could leverage the Tensor G3 chipset in a certain way, which may explain Pixel 8 series exclusivity. For reference, details about the Tensor G3 surfaced last week too. Meanwhile, Google has also added 14 new video filters to its Photos app that 9to5Google speculates will be held back until the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro arrive. The names of these effects are as follows:
- After School
- B&W
- Chromatic
- Forward
- Glassy
- Golden
- Moire
- Multiply
- Polaroid
- Rainbow Rays
- Reflect
- RGB Pulse
- Super 8
- VHS
