Google releases October 2021 update to eligible Pixel smartphones
Google has released a new raft of updates to its Pixel smartphones. According to a blog post, all 'supported Pixel devices running Android 11' will receive this month's update, which means the Pixel 3 through Pixel 5a and all models in between.
Unfortunately, this month's updates do not contain any new features, let alone Android 12. Reportedly, Android 12 will arrive on Pixel smartphones 'in the next few weeks'. Hence, this could be any time between now and the Pixel 6's rumoured release date.
In the latest Pixel Update Bulletin, Google outlines that it has addressed 20 moderate or high Common Vulnerabilities and Exposes (CVEs). Only two of these are Pixel specific, with one aimed at resolving a Titan-M vulnerability. Google provides links to all CVEs in its Pixel Update Bulletin, for reference.
Incidentally, Google has already published the factory images for this month's builds, which you can find under Google's dedicated Google Play services page. Supposedly, all eligible devices will be upgraded to the 2021-10-05 security patch, although some are receiving 2021-10-01 instead.
