No modular smartphone by Google after all: work on Project Ara has been suspended.
Google confirmed last week's Reuters report that suggested, the company might have suspended work on the modular smartphone concept "Project Ara".

The internal sources who reported to Reuters last week apparently were right: Google has indeed stopped work on Project Ara, a Google spokesperson confirmed to Venturebeat. Google did not comment on the reasons for the suspension, however the internal sources who reported to Reuters mentioned efforts to "streamline the company's hardware efforts". Google could still license the project to its partners in the future as the Reuters report suggested, however, as of now, it seems unlikely that Google will continue to work on a modular smartphone concept in the future.
