There is finally a smaller, more affordable charger than Google’s USB-C charging cable for the Google Pixel Watch 4. This could offer a better option for travel, especially now that Google has updated the charging connector on its latest smartwatch.

The Google Pixel Watch 4 features an updated charging connector, located on its side rather than on the back like on most smartwatches. The official USB-C charger (approx. $30 on Amazon) is not only quite expensive but also comes with a non-removable USB-C cable, taking up more space in your bag when travelling.

Until now, the selection of third-party chargers has been limited, apart from a bulky charging dock from Mous. Wasserstein, a company specialising in accessories, has launched a travel charger that is not just smaller but also significantly more affordable than Google’s cable. Priced at around $9, the Wasserstein On-the-Go Charger houses the two metal charging contacts in a small plastic body that holds the Google Pixel Watch 4 upright, allowing users to read the watch even when it’s placed on a nightstand.

The charger is equipped with a USB-C port rather than a fixed cable, making it incredibly compact for travelling. It can also be easily attached to a backpack or keyring. According to Wasserstein, the charger is certified by Google, offers up to 5.8-watt charging, and boasts compatibility with both the 41 and 45 mm Pixel Watch 4 variants, though it lacks support for older Pixel Watch models.

Price and availability

The Wasserstein On-the-Go Charger for the Google Pixel Watch 4 is available now on the company's official website for $8.99 plus shipping.
