Google Pixel 7a to launch with several firsts for Pixel A-Series smartphones
MySmartPrice has obtained marketing slides for the Pixel 7a, Google's next mid-range smartphone. While Pixel 7a specifications have leaked previously, which Yogesh Brar has now collated, this may well be the first time that launch slides have surfaced online. In summary, the Pixel 7a will contain the following hardware:
- Google Tensor G2 chipset
- Titan M2 security chip
- 6.1-inch OLED display, 90 Hz, 1080p
- 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM
- 4,400 mAh battery
Additionally, the images below confirm that the Pixel 7a will launch with a 64 MP primary camera, a first for the Pixel A-Series. Thought to be the Sony IMX787, Google will complement the optically-stabilised primary camera with an ultra-wide-angle sensor that outputs at 12 MP. Moreover, the Pixel 7a will support wireless charging, another first for a Pixel A-Series smartphone.
In short, little will separate the Pixel 7a from the more expensive Pixel 7. The gap between the two devices may be as little as US$100 though, with the Pixel 7a rumoured to retail for US$499 with 128 GB of storage, although there may be a 256 GB edition in some markets. Google is expected to still sell the Pixel 6a after launching its successor too, following in Apple's footsteps. Google will announce the Pixel 7a on May 10 during its I/O 2023 keynote.
