GoPro Hero 8 Black: Pricing, packaging and advertising materials leaked ahead of tomorrow's launch
The wait is almost over GoPro fans, for tomorrow from 06:00 PDT (UTC -7) GoPro will announce its next-generation action cameras, which we currently expect it will call the GoPro Hero 8 and GoPro Max. The company will stream its launch event on YouTube but Phororumors has already got its hands-on pictures of the pricing, packaging and advertising materials for the GoPro Hero 8 Black, the camera that will likely be the flagship of the Hero 8 series.
According to a leaked pricing list, the Hero 8 Black will cost 1,899 PLN, the same price save for 1 PLN at which it originally priced the Hero 7 Black. 1,899 PLN currently coverts to ~US$474, but this conversion includes taxes and GoPro does not convert prices 1:1 between regions, so it does not necessarily reflect US pricing. Instead, it suggests that GoPro will price the Hero 8 Black at US$399, just as it did with the Hero 7 Black. (buy Hero 7 now at Amazon)
Moreover, the leaked pricing states that GoPro will sell the Hero 8 Light Mod and Protective Case for 229 PLN (~US$57), while the Hero 8 Black Floaty will come in at 139 PLN (~US$35). Other items like a sleeve and lanyard or a replacement door will cost 89 PLN (~US$22) too. Previously, we have also seen leaked marketing pictures for tripods and a secondary screen, but the leaked pricing list does not include these.
The leaked packaging pictures also shed some light on the features that the Hero 8 Black will include. Firstly, GoPro will integrate its HyperSmooth 2.0 and TimeWarp 2.0 technologies, while the Hero 8 Black will be waterproof for up to 10 metres. Additionally, the device will support 1080p live streaming, voice commands and can shoot in RAW. The Hero 8 Black will have a 12 MP sensor too that will be capable of shooting in up to 4K at 60 FPS or 1080p at 240 FPS. The leaked packaging claims that the camera will also shoot 8x slow-motion videos.
