GoPro Hero 12 Black: Early evidence of new action camera emerges with new rear display rumoured
Mukul Sharma appears to have discovered an early reference to GoPro's next-generation action camera. Typically, GoPro releases new devices in September, meaning that Sharma's discovery is likely the first of many before retail units arrive. Currently, only one unreleased GoPro action camera has been seen, which has appeared on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) database, the UAE's federal telecommunications regulatory agency.
As the screenshot below shows, GoPro has certified the Hero 12 Black with the TDRA, to be marketed as the HERO12 Black or HERO 12 Black. For reference, the TDRA has revealed the action camera's model name as 'CPST1', which it shares with the Hero 11 Black. Unfortunately, the TDRA does not provide any further details about the Hero 12 Black, nor how it differs from its predecessor.
While the TDRA lists the Hero 11 Black and Hero 12 Black as sharing a model name, Sharma insists that the latter will launch with a new rear display. Supposedly, the Hero 12 Black has an 'Edge-to-Edge' touchscreen; Sharma has not outlined where has got his information from, though. Recent GoPro cameras have all featured the same rear display, so it would not come as a surprise to see GoPro make some changes in this regard. It is unclear whether GoPro intends to release a Hero 11 Black Mini successor this year too, or a follow-up to the Hero 10 Black Bones.
