GoPro has unveiled the Hero 11 Black Mini globally, its first delve into a new form factor since the Hero Max. Equipped with more or less the same internals as the Hero 11 Black and the Hero 11 Black Creator Edition, the Hero 11 Black Mini is the most compact of the trio and is closer to the DJI Action 2's footprint, which has now been superseded by the Osmo Action 3.

GoPro has introduced the Hero 11 Black Mini, a smaller, lighter and simpler alternative to the Hero 11 Black and Hero 11 Black Creator Edition. As its name suggests, the Hero 11 Black Mini is the Hero 11 Black but miniaturised. Specifically, the Hero 11 Black Mini has a one-button design, which GoPro claims it has designed for those who want peak performance and quality while maximising simplicity.

Additionally, the Hero 11 Black Mini lacks a built-in touchscreen, unlike the rest of the Hero 11 Black series. Thankfully, GoPro has included a small display next to the single push button for monitoring battery life, recording parameters and remaining recording time. The Hero 11 Black Mini is compatible with GoPro's existing mods and accessories too, which now spans over 40 products. Moreover, GoPro claims that it will soon sell the Max Lens Mod for the new action camera, which provides Max HyperSmooth video stabilisation and Max SuperView for wider-angle shots.

Furthermore, GoPro equips the Hero 11 Black Mini with the same 27 MP camera sensor as the rest of the Hero 11 Black series. According to the company, the new camera outputs in an 8:7 aspect ratio and can record videos in 5.3K at 30 FPS. Alternatively, you can record at 60 FPS in 5.3K and 4K but with a 16:9 aspect ratio, or 4K at 120 FPS for a slow-motion effect. Unfortunately, the Hero 11 Black Mini has a smaller battery than the regular model, with a 1,500 mAh capacity compared to the 1,720 mAh 'Enduro' battery powering the Hero 11 Black.

Likewise, the Hero 11 Black Mini does without a GPS module and stereo microphones. Unlike the Hero 11 Black, the Hero 11 Black Mini will not be orderable until October 25. Currently, GoPro states that the Hero 11 Black Mini will retail for US$229.98 if you have a GoPro subscription. Conversely, the camera will carry a US$399.99 MSRP. For reference, the action camera will cost AUD$499.95, €349.98, JPY 48,000, KRW 448,000 and £299.98 in Australia, the Eurozone, Japan, South Korea and the UK, respectively, with a GoPro subscription.
