According to RTINGS’ review of the TCL QM7, the Mini-LED TV is suitable for both media watching and gaming. The publication gave the TV ratings of 8.7 and 8.2 for “Video Games” and “HDR Movies” respectively.

Among the many reasons for TCL QM7’s excellent HDR performance, the high brightness and contrast are the most important. RTINGS’ measurements show that the TCL QM7 boasts a native contrast of 8,264:1 which shoots up to an outstanding 66,000:1 with local dimming. For brightness, the TV outputs more than 1,500 nits of Peak 10% Window brightness in both HDR and SDR. Combined with 97% DCI-P3 uv coverage and excellent color volume, the TCL QM7 should offer a delightful picture.

Moving on to the gaming features, the TCL QM7 features a super low input lag, support for 4K@144 Hz with VRR, and a quick response time. The TV is also fully compatible with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S | X.

Unfortunately, the TCL QM7 also has some obvious flaws that might be deal breakers for some. For starters, the TV has good but not great reflection handling, so brightly lit rooms might pose a challenge for some users. Additionally, the TV’s VA panel has poor viewing angles.

If you can live with these issues, the 98-inch TCL QM7 on sale will make for a sweet purchase for fans of massive screens.
