Unveiled earlier this month, the Aero 15 is the centerpiece in Gigabyte's professional notebook lineup at Computex. The laptop's most noticeable feature is its nearly bezel-free display, which measures 15.6 inches yet fits into a 14-inch chassis.

Gigabyte is showcasing a crop of new and updated notebooks at Computex today, including the newest model in its Aero line: the Aero 15.

Technically, the notebook isn't new, having leaked late April and released earlier this month, but Computex is Gigabyte's opportunity to really give the Aero 15 a worldwide platform. At the least, it's a great way to show off the laptop's standout feature: its nearly bezel-free screen. The Aero 15's display appears to stretch from edge to edge due to its razor-thin 5-millimeter bezels that not only are the thinnest "among all 15.6-inch laptops" according to Gigabyte, but allow it to be crammed into a chassis size normally reserved for 14-inch notebooks.

Now, on to specifications. A 1920x1080 resolution is standard with this notebook, but it can be upgraded to 2160p if desired. Both types are powered by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of GDDR5 RAM, as well as the integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 that switches on when running less-intensive applications. Finally, each display has been color calibrated and certified using the X-Rite Pantone professional calbration test to ensure accurate colors.

The rest of the Aero 15's specs include:

  • A 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor (2.8 GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 3.8 GHz)
  • Up to 16 GB of DDR4-2400 memory (user expandable up to 32 GB)
  • 2 M.2 SSD slots (with storage capacity dependent on region and retailer)
  • 3 USB 3.0 Type-A ports
  • Thunderbolt 3 port
  • HDMI 2.0 port
  • SD card reader
  • Headphone/microphone combo jack
  • HD webcam
  • 802.11ac WiFi capability
  • 94.24Wh Li-polymer battery rated for up to 10 hours of use
  • RGB-backlit keyboard
  • Windows 10 or Windows 10 Pro

There are three distinct laptop colors available to choose from: lime green, orange, and black. Gigabyte is including a 90-day Premium-tier membership to Xplit Gamercaster, as well as another 90-day subscription to the TriDef Smartcam smart blur service, as part of a promotional bundle with each Aero 15.

Although Gigabyte has provided detailed information on the Aero 15's design specs, it has not provided an official price. However, both Amazon and Newegg sell the laptop configured with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD for US $1,899.
