Resident Evil Village is now on sale on Steam at its lowest price ever after a massive 75% price cut. The discount has brought the price close to single digits, making this a perfect time to play the critically acclaimed title. Resident Evil Village enjoys an 83 on Metacritic with an "Overwhelmingly Positive" user rating on Steam.

Capcom is currently running a massive “Capcom Gamescom sale” on Steam, offering deep discounts on a range of Capcom games. With games like Monster Hunter: Wilds, Street Fighter 6, and Devil May Cry enjoying considerable price cuts, there is something for everyone. This also includes horror fans, as Capcom has also put several Resident Evil games on sale, including the highly rated Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil Village was released back in 2021 to widespread praise from both fans and media. With beautiful presentation, an engrossing setting, action-packed gameplay, and plenty of horror, the game was a success from almost all angles. This resulted in the title getting a 9/10 review score from GameSpot and a bunch of awards.

So, if you are a fan of the horror/survival-horror genre and haven’t played Resident Evil Village, the ongoing Steam sale, where RE Village is now only $9.99, is a perfect opportunity to snag the title.

Resident Evil Village mixes thrilling combat with panic-inducing horror

Resident Evil Village follows the story of protagonist Ethan Winters, who has to explore a derelict, horror-filled village to find and rescue his daughter. Referred to only as “The Village”, it is a setting overrun by nightmarish creatures like werewolves/lycans and ruled by four bosses. These four bosses control distinct zones with varied environments.

GameSpot describes Resident Evil Village’s gameplay as “distinctly more action-centric” than Resident Evil 7, with a focus on “slower movement and exploration through its gorgeous, twisting environments”. The main gameplay loop revolves around exploring the village and defeating enemies while searching for and managing resources like ammo and guns.

The last part gives Resident Evil Village its “survival-horror” categorization, as you will constantly need to keep track of resources. Things like guns and ammo need to be scoured, crafted from materials, or bought from a merchant. You also have limited space for storage of these items, which adds to the overall tension of making sure you are prepared for the next enemy encounter.

All in all, Resident Evil Village is, without a doubt, a game worth checking out for RE fans.

Resident Evil Village system requirements

Thanks in part to the RE Engine, Resident Evil Village is well optimized. It can run quite well on even low-end hardware. The official system requirements listed on Steam include:

If you want to turn on ray tracing, the game requires at least an RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2070 GPU. So, cost-effective cards like the RX 9060 XT or the RTX 5060 are perfectly capable of running RE Village with RT effects.
