Geekom has now released its latest mini-PC after introducing its first laptops a few days ago. Announced at the end of last month, the A9 Mega follows the A9 Max that Geekom started selling almost a month ago. Incidentally, the A9 Mega is the retail name of the mysterious mini-PC that preceded the A9 Max's official launch.
For some reason, Geekom has not released the A9 Mega directly to its retail platform like the A9 Max before it. Neither is the new mini-PC available via third parties like Amazon, where the A9 Max is now sold. (curr. $999 on Amazon). Instead, Geekom has brought the A9 Mega to Kickstarter with the promise of a $200 saving on the mini-PC's eventual MSRP.
Also, the A9 Mega can only be picked up in one SKU, despite Geekom previously implying that multiple memory configurations would complement the device's AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU. As it stands, the A9 Mega is only available with 128 GB of RAM, unlike equivalent Strix Halo mini-PCs like the GMKtec EVO-X2. For reference, Geekom has also included the following ports within the mini-PC's 171 x 171 x 70.9 mm housing:
- 2x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45)
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DC input
- 2x HDMI 2.1 FRL
- 1x SD 4.0 card reader
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 3x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Type-C (data only)
- 2x USB 4
On top of that, the A9 Mega contains a pair of M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slots and an M.2 2230 slot populated by a Bluetooth 5.4/Wi-Fi 7 capable modem out of the box. Currently, the A9 Mega can be backed on Kickstarter for $1,899 with a Ryzen AI Max 395+ APU, 128 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. At the time of publication, Geekom hopes to begin shipping units to Kickstarter backers in November 2025.
