Minisforum has provided more details about the MS-S1 Max, a mini-PC that it began teasing towards the end of August. To recap, the company initially presented the MS-S1 Max in China before bringing it to IFA 2025 in Berlin at the start of this month. Now, Minisforum has confirmed more aspects about the device and the date of its global launch.
On the one hand, Minisforum indicates that the MS-S1 Max will be available following a launch event that starts at 02:15 UTC on September 17. Unfortunately, the company is remaining quiet on pricing for the time being. One can sign up to receive a $200 coupon when MS-S1 Max pre-orders open, though. Ultimately, an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395-powered mini-PC is unlikely to come cheap, as the GMKtec EVO-X2 and other equivalently-powerful mini-PCs already demonstrate (curr. $1,499 on Amazon).
On the other hand, Minisforum has revealed that the MS-S1 Max ships with a 320 W built-in power supply. However, up to a 160 W Package Power Tracking (PPT) will be offered to the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which will be configurable with up to 128 GB of RAM. While 160 W will be achievable in performance mode, the MS-S1 Max will support Balance, Quiet and Rack modes with 130 W, 110 W and 140 W PPTs, respectively.
Moreover, the MS-S1 Max integrates a full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, dual M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots and numerous ports spread across its front and rear panels. Specifically, the MS-S1 Max will ship with the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x AC input
- 1x CMOS button
- 1x HDMI 2.1 FRL (8K/60Hz)
- 1x Lock slot
- 2x RJ45 10 Gigabit LAN (Realtek RTL8127)
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
- 2x USB4 (40 Gbps/DisplayPort Alt Mode/15 W Power Delivery)
- 2x USB4 V2 (80 Gbps/DisplayPort Alt Mode/15 W Power Delivery)
