Gaming mini PC with 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU boasts powerful Radeon 8060S iGPU as well as a sky-high price tag

The Minix ER939-AI Pro mini PC was announced towards the end of last year, although we did not have any pricing or availability details to speak of back then. Now, however, the mini PC is available for purchase directly from the company's official online store.
Gaming mini PC with 16-core Zen 5 CPU and Radeon 8060S iGPU
Powered by the extremely powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" APU, the mini PC should be well-suited for high-end productivity as well as gaming workloads. The 16-core chip is made up entirely of full-fat Zen 5 cores, allowing for multicore performance which keeps up with the Ryzen 9 7945HX chip, beating the Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX by around 7% in Cinebench 2024.
Of course, the AMD Radeon 8060S integrated GPU is the main selling point, offering performance that is in the same league as a discrete GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. The mini PC also comes equipped with a whopping 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, which is shared between the CPU and the GPU.
This allows massive LLMs to run locally, which would be impossible to run on most consumer GPUs which generally ship with anywhere between 8 to 24 GB of VRAM. 2 TB of SSD storage is also offered, which can be expanded to a whopping 8 TB. The RAM, however, is non-upgradeable.

The Minix ER939 gaming mini PC sports a triple-fan cooling setup, which sounds good on paper. Needless to say, thermal performance will definitely play a crucial role in determining real-world performance under sustained workloads.
The I/O on offer is pretty decent, featuring the following ports:
- Dual USB 4 Type-A
- Triple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, dual USB 2.0 Type-A
- HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4
- Dual 3.5 mm audio jacks
- 2.5G Ethernet
Wireless requirements are taken care of by WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, courtesy of the RZ717 module housed in an M.2 2230 slot. Speaking of M.2 slots, the ER939 mini PC also packs a single M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slot, as well as an M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.
At just 8.071 x 7.56 x 2.7 inches, the Minix ER939 mini PC is plenty compact, and should not take up too much space on any desk. A fingerprint sensor is also offered, allowing for biometric authentication.
Priced at a whopping $3,810, the gaming mini PC is unsurprisingly quite expensive. This specific variant ships with 128 GB RAM as well as a 2 TB SSD. Interestingly, competing products with similar internal specifications can be found at much lower price points, such as the GMKtec Evo-X2 which is currently available for just under $3,000 on Amazon.
