GPD has refreshed another of its older products, having recently updated the Win Mini, Win Max 2 and Win 4 with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. This time, the company has decided to revisit the Pocket 3, despite releasing the Pocket 4 around six months ago (curr. $1,481 on Amazon).
To recap, GPD initially introduced the Pocket 3 in November 2021 with a choice between Intel Core i7-1195G7 and Pentium Silver N6000 processors. Then last year, the company replaced the Pentium Silver N6000 with the Pentium Gold 7505 for a 33% performance boost and the added benefit of Thunderbolt 4 support.
Now, the Pentium Gold 7505 has been swapped out for the Core i3-1125G4, which should bring another 33% performance uplift to the table. However, GPD is no longer selling the Pocket 3 with a Core i7-1195G7 that outperforms the Core i3-1125G4 by almost the same margin. Graphics performance will be significantly worse on the Core i3-1125G4 than the Core i7-1195G7, too. Please see our benchmarks comparison for more details.
The new Pocket 3 is currently available through Indiegogo for HKD $5,422 (~$698) with 16 GB of LPDDR4x-3733 RAM, a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 (M.2 2280) SSD, an active stylus and two expansion modules. At the time of publication, GPD hopes to begin shipping new Pocket 3 orders from April 15, 2025, onwards. Please see GPD's Indiegogo campaign page for more details.
