GEEKOM GT1 Mega mini PC debuts with up to Core Ultra 9 185H CPU, 64 GB of memory, and excellent connectivity options including dual 2.5G ethernet
GEEKOM has announced yet another entrant to its respectable lineup of mini PCs, christened the GT1 Mega. With a relatively compact chassis sporting a sub-1-liter volume, the GT1 Mega appears to target the mid-range mini PC segment with decently powerful internals which will most likely satiate the performance demands of most daily tasks.
Powered by Intel's 'Meteor Lake' mobile CPUs, the GT1 Mega can be equipped with either a 16-core Core Ultra 7 155H or the higher-end 16-core Core Ultra 9 185H. Both of these are speedy enough for almost anything that the typical user is likely to throw at them. The system also boasts dual SODIMM slots with support for up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory. Up to 2TB of NVMe storage is offered courtesy of its M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4x4 slot, while another terabyte of SATA storage can be added via its M.2 2242 slot.
The integrated Arc GPU takes care of the graphics side of things since the GEEKOM GT1 Mega's chassis is simply not 'Mega' enough to accommodate the power and thermal demands of discrete graphics. This is typical of most mini PCs, and wouldn't have been an issue had an OCuLink port been provided, which isn't the case. For anyone with more substantial graphics demands, the USB 4 port will come in handy for eGPU support, albeit at a greater performance loss compared to OCuLink.
Connectivity options are plenty, thanks to the GT1 Mega's extensive array of ports. The system includes four USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, dual USB 4.0, a single USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, dual HDMI 2.0, an audio combo jack, as well as dual 2.5 G ethernet ports. Wireless communications are handled by Intel's BE200 boasting support for WiFi 7 as well as Bluetooth 5.4.
As far as pricing is concerned, the GEEKOM GT1 Mega is pretty expensive for what it offers. The variant with the Core Ultra 7, 32 GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD is priced at $899, while the higher-end Core Ultra 9, 32 GB RAM, and 2 TB SSD costs another $100. There is no AMD variant on offer, so fans of Team Red will be better off with something like the GEEKOM A8 (currently $849 on Amazon), which packs an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS APU.
