The Fujifilm X100VI leaks continue to tug at the heart strings of compact camera fans. Despite previous arguments to the contrary and an identical lens, a new leak claims that the upcoming X100V replacement, and by extension the X-Pro4 and possibly X-E5, will, in fact, sport in-body image stabilisation.

When previous leaks purporting that the Fujifilm X100VI would come with the same 23 mm F/2 lens appeared, many assumed that this meant in-body image stabilisation or optical image stabilisation would be an unlikely inclusion to the upcoming X100V replacement. Now, a new leak from Fuji Rumors claims that the X100VI will, in fact, have in-body image stabilisation when it launches on February 20.

If these leaks, which Fuji Rumors claims to be from highly-accurate insiders, turn out to be true, the X100VI will be Fujifilm's first compact camera — meaning from the X-E, X, or X-Pro lines — to feature IBIS.

However, Fujifilm is also rumoured to release updates to the X-Pro camera series in 2024, although rumour has it that the fate of an X-E5 seems to be in the balance. Given the way Fujifilm positions its cameras and largely segments them around form factor, build quality, and use-case rather than feature set, it is almost guaranteed that the upcoming X-Pro 4 will feature IBIS.

If there is a Fujifilm X-E5 on the horizon, it, may also follow suit with regard to IBIS — a move that would turn the X-E5 into a powerful compact camera for hybrid shooters.

Given the Fujifilm X100VI will likely ship with the X-Trans CMOS 5 sensor found in the Fujifilm X-T5 (curr. $1,699 on Amazon), the X100VI could feature up to seven stops of five-axis image stabilisation. That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see the performance or number of axes reduced due to size constraints in the X100VI's body.

These are, however, leaks, and until Fujifilm launches the X100VI, likely on February 20 at the X Summit event the company announced on its YouTube channel days ago, nothing about the new cameras is set in stone.

If you're on the hunt for a capable, compact hybrid camera, check out the Fujifilm X-S20 on Amazon. The current-gen X100V is also still on sale at Amazon for those that don't care about image stabilisation or the updated sensor.
