SNK’s retro arcade bundle has just gone free on the Stove store. PC players can now grab a collection of 24 classic titles from the company’s early years without paying anything. The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection normally sells for $29.99, and is now listed at $0.00 with a full 100% discount for a limited time.
This bundle brings includes a wide mix of SNK’s 1980s arcade games, covering shooters, action titles, and old-school run-and-gun experiences. The lineup includes well-known names like Ikari Warriors, Alpha Mission, Athena, Crystalis, P.O.W. Prisoners of War, Guerrilla War, Psycho Soldier, Prehistoric Isle, Street Smart, Vanguard, Bermuda Triangle, Ozma Wars, Time Soldiers, and several others, adding up to 24 games in total.
While the games themselves go heavy on the "arcade" design, the collection does have a few unique, modern touches to make them easier to play today. Players get features like rewind, save anytime, and updated control schemes, along with support for higher resolutions up to 4K. There’s also a Museum mode that includes artwork and historical material around SNK’s early arcade era. That should help if you're looking for some context beyond just the games.
Please note that this isn’t a remake or remaster in the modern sense. These are straightforward versions of classic arcade titles, built mainly for the sake of nostalgia and quick pick-up sessions. However, while the game itself has never been given away for free, it has seen a low of $4.49 on the aforementioned platform. It also holds a "Very positive" rating aggregate on Steam from over 300 reviews.
