Free Starlink dish offer gives away the Standard Kit with a year of satellite Internet subscription

SpaceX has announced a new promo that gives the Starlink Standard Kit dish and router for free if the subscriber signs up for a year of satellite Internet service.

The free Starlink dish comes with a 12-month Residential plan subscription at the $80/month Lite or the $120/month premium full-speed tier, and is only available for certain regions in the US or abroad.

There are some countries like Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Austria, Norway, Netherlands, Croatia, Czech Republic, or Switzerland, whose entire territory is covered by the free Starlink kit deal. In Croatia, however, the free Starlink dish deal only applies to the pricier Mini Kit, for some reason.

In the US, the valid states or areas seem to overlap with the current SpaceX offer for a $200 equipment discount via the Starlink Regional Savings program. Currently, the Starlink Standard Kit goes for $349 at Best Buy, but in 28 states it can be ordered for much less, so SpaceX is basically saving subscribers just $149 for a year of commitment.

In areas with wider Starlink satellite Internet adoption like Sacramento, San Diego, Phoenix, or Central Florida, SpaceX is doing the opposite. It recently bumped the initial congestion fee for acquiring a Starlink dish in those to $250, essentially making the Standard Kit more expensive than a Mini dish.

SpaceX cautions that those who sign up for the free Starlink Standard Kit offer will have to maintain their contract for a year at this address, or they will be charged a change fee. Any failure to pay the monthly bill and attempts to cancel the service or transfer the Starlink dish to another user during the one-year period will be subject to said fee as well.

As usual, potential subscribers have a 30-day trial period during which they can check if the Starlink satellite Internet coverage is adequate at their chosen address. The free Starlink dish deal map can be seen below, with only a few major cities in states like California or Texas excluded by the offer due to satellite Internet traffic congestion there.
