SpaceX has announced a new, tougher Starlink Performance dish that can survive vibrations from a landing rocket and offers gigabit satellite Internet speeds. The Starlink gigabit plan upgrades will arrive in 2026.

SpaceX is bringing satellite Internet to moving cars and boats with a new Starlink satellite Internet dish that is its toughest and fastest yet.

Unlike the $350 Starlink Mini dish that is also aimed at securing satellite Internet access on the go, the new $1,999 Starlink Performance Kit offers unmatched durability and gigabit download speeds.

So much so, that it is marked by a longer 3-year warranty, while SpaceX tips that it is designed for a 10-year lifespan in worst-case scenarios. These include falling from a meter height on any of its surfaces, hail with up to 1.25-inch diameter, melting snow coverage with 100 kg/m3 density, military standard shocks, and vibrations from typical rail, construction, ground or marine vehicle, and agriculture activities.

SpaceX even released a few videos where it showed the new Starlink Performance Kit surviving vibrations from a landing rocket or being mounted on a barrelling Cybertruck crossing rugged terrain.

Starlink Performance Kit price and specs

  • $1,999
  • Gigabit download speed-ready (400+ Mbps on the current Starlink network).
  • Powder-coated aluminum enclosure for impact protection and corrosion resistance.
  • Water and dust resistant to IP68 without a connector installed, and a locking connector that provides water and dust resistance to IP69.
  • Designed to withstand aggressive vibration and shock environments.
  • 140° scan angle for enterprise and mobility applications.
  • Power supply capable of AC (primary), DC (primary), or AC (primary) + DC (backup) power.
  • Field terminatable connector for custom installations.
  • Stainless steel threaded inserts for more robust mounting.
  • Thermal performance improvements for efficient snow melting and higher performance at extreme temperatures.

What's more, the new Starlink Performance Kit dish is its first to offer gigabit satellite Internet speeds. Those who buy it will be able to take advantage of the new blazing downloads when SpaceX switches on its gigabit network with the launch of its V3 satellites that are the size of a Boeing 737 when unfurled.

"Starlink is focused on making network enhancements which will enable gigabit speeds starting in the most remote places on Earth with the Performance Kit," tips SpaceX, promising service plan upgrades in 2026 with "no hardware changes needed." The kit can currently download at over 400 Mbps satellite Internet speeds.

The new Starlink Performance dish costs $2,049 with shipping and handling, while local satellite Internet plan prices for it start at $65/month for 50 GB and go up to $540/month for 2 TB of data.
