Six months ago, SNK teased a massive announcement for a new fighter for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves that raised a few eyebrows. The strange teaser hinted at something related to football with the cryptic line - "A legendary player joins a legendary game."
Now, the company has made it official. SNK has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is a playable character in the game with a new trailer that hints at his play style. Ronaldo is regarded as one of the greatest footballers ever to play the game, and the move will likely get more eyes on the game before release.
From what we can see in the trailer, all of his football "moves" are accounted for and present, including his signature celebration style. It looks really goofy, to be honest, and the special moves, compared to the rest of the flashy cast, look really lame.
The reactions online are also mixed. Some fans have applauded the move as it will likely bring in new players, while others find the inclusion too random to make any sense.
One thing that might explain his addition is that SNK is owned by the Saudi Arabian MiSK Foundation, which is linked to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He also controls the public investment fund, which owns a 75% stake in Al Nassr FC, the club Ronaldo plays for.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be released on 24 April 2025. It features classic SNK characters like Andy and Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and crossover characters like Ken and Chun-Li from Street Fighter. It will be available for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
