Fisker looks to be in deeper trouble than it previously let on. A new Fisker filing reveals that it will face bankruptcy within 30 days if it cannot drum up some investment before then.

It's no secret that Fisker has seen hard times in recent months, with the company itself admitting that it could run out of money in 12 months. Despite switching up its sales tactics and making dramatic cuts to the prices of its flagship Ocean EVs, the electric carmaker seems to still be in dire straits, with a recent regulatory filing at the SEC indicating that Fisker "expects to seek protection under applicable bankruptcy laws in multiple jurisdictions within 30 days."

The news comes after a number of scathing reviews pointed out that the Fisker Ocean EV was wrought with issues ranging from incomplete software to glitchy and inadequate hardware. Fisker's recent discounts on its Ocean SUV saw prices come down to as low as $24,999 for the entry-level model, making it one of the cheapest electric vehicles available.

Still, many cautioned against buying a Fisker Ocean due to the company's bleak outlook, suggesting that future support and warranty service would likely not be an option for any Fisker owners if the company did go under.

While that round of discounts did manage to drum up interest in Fisker's Ocean EVs, that apparently wasn't enough to keep the EV maker above water.  To make matter worse, just two weeks earlier, the company defaulted on a loan by missing an $8.4 million interest payment.

At the moment, it seems as though Fisker may not be in it for the long haul, which might be disappointing to fans who were looking forward to the Fisker PEAR, Ronin, or Alaska when they were set to eventually launch.
