At the same event that it announced the Ronin four-door electric GT car, Fisker also unveiled the Alaska electric pickup truck based on the same platform as its Ocean electric SUV. More recently, Fisker has revealed more details about the Alaska, including its range, starting price, performance, and a number of nifty features, some of which it inherited from the PEAR compact hatchback.
Starting with the important bits first, the Fisker Alaska will be available with either a 75 kWh or 113 kWh battery pack, delivering 230 miles (370 km) or 430 miles (692 km) of range, respectively. The drive train will presumably be similar to the Ocean, likely meaning a single-motor FWD setup on the low-end and a dual-motor AWD setup in higher trim levels.
For comparison, the entry-level Rivian R1T extracts 231 miles (371.8 km) out of 105 kWh of battery, making the Alaska very efficient by comparison.
Likewise, Fisker hasn't had much to say about the Alaska's HP or torque figures, but the company did tease 0-60 mph times of between 3.9 and 7.2 seconds, depending on the variant in question. While it didn't share exact weight figures, Fisker says that it wants the Alaska to be the lightest electric pickup truck on the market.
The Alaska will also seemingly be a fair bit smaller than the other electric pickup trucks, with a 4.5-foot (1.37 m) bed and a total length of just 17.4 feet (5.3 m) — around 0.7 feet (21.3 cm) shorter than the Rivian R1T's 18.09 feet (5.5 m), and almost two feet shorter than the Ford F-150 Lightning's 19.3-foot (~5.9 m) exterior.
To remedy the bed's storage limitations, Fisker has implemented what it calls a Houdini door to separate the truck bed and the rear passenger area. Dropping the Houdini door and flattening the rear seats will give owners an extra three feet of bed space to haul extra long items. Opening the rear tailgate builds on this yet again, bringing the total to 9.2 feet (2.8 m) of bed space when absolutely necessary.
Fisker aims to start production of the Alaska in Q1 2025, with deliveries to start later in that same year. Additionally, the Alaska will be manufactured in the US, so it should qualify for the federal EV tax incentives.
