Asus has unveiled the world's first Ryzen-powered notebook, the ROG Strix GL702ZC. The laptop is 17.3-inches, supports FreeSync 2.0, and is powered by a Ryzen 7 1700 8-core desktop CPU and a mobile Radeon RX 580 GPU.

It was only teased just a few days ago, but the cat is already out of the bag: the world's first Ryzen laptop will be one of Asus's ROG Strix lineup. The catchily named "ROG Strix GL702QC" is a 17.3-inch laptop powered by a desktop Ryzen 7 1700 CPU (65 Watt) and a mobile Radeon RX 580 GPU (demo clocked at 1077 MHz) with 4 GB GDDR5 at 2 GHz.

The laptop itself is your fairly standard 17.3-inch ROG gaming notebook. It can support up to 32GB of ram via two slots and has both m.2 and 2.5-inch storage bays. One aspect of distinction is that its 17.3-inch FHD display supports FreeSync 2.0, meaning games should run smoothly without tearing or input lag.

To put the new Ryzen-powered laptop in context of Intel and Nvidia's current offerings, the Ryzen 7 1700 is slightly faster than an i7-7820HK at stock clocks (though it should shine most during multitasking due to its 8 cores). Meanwhile, the Radeon RX 580 should be around 90% the performance of an Nvidia GTX 1060, but will consume 10-11% more power. While pricing information isn't available, you can bet that AMD will be competing on performance-per-dollar as usual.

AMD also shared a Cinebench R15 Multi Benchmark on stage of the laptop and stated that it reachess 1410 points, which is in-line with the desktop CPU.
