The writer for the game has also been responsible for the screenplay for Braveheart, while its designer has previously worked on the Age of Empires series.

Titan Quest, released back in 2006, back when games were bought on CDs, was developed by Iron Lore and published by THQ Nordic. It is a multiplayer action role-playing game (ARPG) in which players assume the roles of customizable avatars who can select one of nine distinct ‘Masteries’ at levels 2 and 8. The combination of the two-tier mastery system then allows for over 36 unique builds, each with unique skill trees that grant active and passive skills.

The developers also released multiple DLCs for the game, with the first, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, released a year after the original. The studio celebrated a decade of Titan Quest by releasing Titan Quest Anniversary Edition in 2016, which combined the base game and the first expansion. A year later, the game saw its second expansion, Titan Quest: Ragnarök, followed by Titan Quest: Atlantis in 2019, and Titan Quest: Eternal Embers in 2021, all while receiving general updates to the graphics, gameplay, mechanics, and features to bring them upto date with modern ARPG standards.

Finally, in 2025, after almost two decades of rescuing deities and slaying evils from all cultures around the world, THQ released Titan Quest 2 into early access, developed by Grimlore Games. Avatars once again return to the Greek lands of antiquity, this time to battle the forces of Nemesis, Goddess of Retribution, and thwart her nefarious designs.

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition was exceptionally well-received by fans and critics alike, bringing back fans of the original games and those from a newer, younger generation. It is currently rated Very Positive with over 33,000 positive reviews on Steam. Players commonly praise its original setting and gameplay, particularly the dual mastery system, which offers variety in builds.
