Following the launch of the Fairphone 6, Fairphone has announced a handful of USB-C cables and chargers; and while they are not repairable like its phones, the Amsterdam-based manufacturer says they are made from fair and recycled materials. It also says they are assembled with 100% green energy and are 100% e-waste neutral.
Fairphone's new charging accessories include the Fairphone USB-C Long Life Charging Cable which is available in 1m and 2.5m versions. The cables are USB 2.0 cables but there's a version of the 1m length that supports USB 3.2, thus allowing for 20GBps transfer speeds and up to 8K output.
Regardless of which length you purchase, the Fairphone USB-C Long Life Charging Cable arrives braided, with a modular organizer strip, and a detachable USB-A to USB-C adapter. The cables support up to 240W fast charging, allowing them to be used with high wattage chargers such as the Anker 250W GaN Prime Charging Station (curr. available on Amazon for $109.99). The cables also have a three-year warranty.
In addition to the USB-C cables are the Fairphone 65W USB-C Triple-Port Fast charger and the Fairphone 65W USB-C Triple-Port Fast charger. Both are GaN chargers that are also made from recycled materials and have voltage protection, current protection, temperature protection, and short circuit protection.
The triple-port charger has two USB-C ports that each have a max output of 65W and a single USB-A port that has a max output of 30W. However, the max wattage a device can draw will depend on the device itself and how many devices are connected to the charger. The 30W charger, on the other hand, has a single USB-C port.
Pricing for the Fairphone USB-C cables starts at €19.95, goes up to €24.95 for the 2.5m version, and maxes out at €34.95 for the USB-C 3.2 variant. The triple-port charger costs €39.95 but is listed as coming soon while the single-port 30W charger is available to buy now for €24.95.
