There are certain features that most 14-inch subnotebooks sacrifice because of their smaller form factors. Internally, these are typically removable or upgradeable RAM in favor of soldered LPDDR5 solutions or support for just a single M.2 SSD instead of two individual drives. The Eurocom Blitz Ultra 2 14 is one of the few 14-inch subnotebooks to support both upgradeable RAM and up to two full-size M.2 SSDs.
As shown in our review of the model, the Blitz Ultra 2 14 can be user-configured with up to two 64 GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM modules for 128 GB of RAM or two 8 TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs in RAID 0/1 for up to 16 TB of storage. In contrast, popular 14-inch business laptops like the HP EliteBook X G1i 14 top out at 32 GB or 64 GB of non-upgradeable RAM with no SSD expansion slot. Users who like to run multiple servers at a time or other RAM-heavy applications may therefore find more value in the lesser-known Eurocom system.
A few drawbacks are nonetheless unavoidable. Most notably, the Eurocom system is slightly heavier and larger than the average 14-inch subnotebook including the aforementioned HP. Its superior repairability comes at a cost in that regard.
