Epic Games plans to bring free games program to its mobile store soon
The Epic Games Store app has recently landed on Android, and with that, users have a new way to download games other than from Google Play Store and other storefronts. Of course, the collection isn't as extensive as some of its competitors, but Epic has announced that it will bring third-party games soon.
In addition, Epic will be bringing its well-known free games program to the mobile store. The company announced this during the Unreal Fest event, mentioning the freebie program is planned for the fourth quarter of this year. The storefront likely wants to attract mobile gamers to install this third-party store with this.
Speaking of which, Epic Games Store has recently filed a lawsuit against Google and Samsung. In this lawsuit, the company states the two tech giants are working together to deter competition in the Android app store.
The storefront hasn't yet provided additional details on the free games program on mobile. However, it may offer freebies weekly, just like what Epic Games Store does on its PC platform.
As for the third-party offerings, Epic Games states that "between 10 and 50" titles will be ready for the introductory phase. However, the company worries that implementing a payment solution could be an issue, which may push some of these third-party titles back by a few months.
