The Epic Games Store has confirmed its game giveaway plans for next week. Returning again with a single free game, the popular storefront will focus in on a detective game called The Operator that has been popular with critics and fans alike since its release last summer.

The Epic Games Store's latest Mega Sale period is ending today. As a result, the storefront has decided to move away from its Mystery Game teasers, which it has used to great effect in recent weeks. However, it has now reverted to revealing its plans ahead of time, just as it did for this week's giveaway.

For reference, Epic Games will be giving away Two Point Hospital until June 19 at 15:00 UTC in a deal worth $29.99 for those who have not previously purchased the modern take on Theme Hospital. After this deal expires, the storefront will switch to The Operator, a detective game that typically sells for $13.99 on Steam. Purely a point-and-click adventure, The Operator can also be played with a DualSense or Xbox controller (curr. $47.99 on Amazon).

As it stands, The Operator has amassed thousands of Very Positive reviews on Steam since its release last July. Added to that, The Operator has been nominated at various games award ceremonies in the last two years, including for Best Indie Game at Pégases 2025. The Operator has achieved an average of 78/100 from OpenCritic and Metacritic too. With that being said, only 67% of critics would recommend the game. Please see Epic Games' store listing for more information.
