Redditor MeguminShiro has been pretty accurate with Epic Games Store holiday free game leaks, but the last out didn't turn out to be correct. While there hasn't been much of a backlash regarding it, the leaker has seemingly called it quits.

Since the start of the Epic Games Store holiday free game giveaway, MeguminShiro has been sharing pretty accurate hints about the games before they were officially unveiled. Of course, there was a slight inaccuracy with the leaker's hint for the December 21 giveaway, but the actual free title was somewhat in line with the hint.

However, the same can't be said for the Epic Games Store free game that was revealed on Christmas Day. Initially, the leaker asserted that it would be Civilization VI Platinum Edition, but right ahead of the official reveal, MeguminShiro found out that it would be Control instead.

Seeing the mishap, MeguminShiro said that this was very out of the expected and would look into what went wrong. While the leaker didn't share what actually went wrong with the initial prediction, MeguminShiro has seemingly called it quits, saying, "End Task - Megumin's Weird Clues (Meguwillclose.exe)."

This comment suggests that the leaker won't be sharing any more hints about upcoming Epic Games Store free games. It is worth noting that there hasn't been much of a backlash against the leaker for sharing an inaccurate prediction.

As many are speculating, given how accurate Redditor MeguminShiro has been with the past leaks, the leaker may be an employee or an intern at Epic Games Store. The company may have shared the wrong info with possible suspects to figure out who was leaking the games.

If that turns out to be true, MeguminShiro may have been caught red-handed, and some Redditors are sharing concerns about it. The leaker didn't confirm this speculation, though.

Regardless, it's not like Epic Games Store will stop giving away free games that are planned for the holiday season after this incident. Eight more special giveaways are expected to go live in the coming days. However, MeguminShiro's hints did bring the community together, and it was fun predicting what free game would go live next from the clues the leaker shared.
