Current LTD: Powerful e-bike has a limited production run
Premium components, 120 Nm of torque, and a strictly limited run: Aventon’s new Current LTD is an ultra-exclusive e-MTB featuring electronic shifting and a high-output mid-drive motor.

While Aventon may not have the heritage of traditional bicycle manufacturers, the brand has steadily expanded its lineup—and is now targeting the high-end e-MTB segment with the launch of the Aventon Current LTD. Capped at just 99 units worldwide, the flagship model commands a price tag of €7,999 or $7,999 in the US and is currently open for pre-order, with European deliveries slated to begin around November 11.

At the heart of the Current LTD is Aventon's proprietary Ultro X mid-drive motor, which delivers up to 120 Nm of peak torque. On paper, that falls slightly short of DJI's ultra-powerful Avinox M2S system, though direct trail testing will ultimately reveal how they compare in practice. Built around a carbon frame, the full-suspension e-bike weighs in at 23.1 kg (50.9 lbs)—a respectable figure considering its mid-drive setup and massive 800.1 Wh battery, which accounts for nearly 4.2 kg (9.3 lbs) of the total weight alone.

Aventon has clearly spared no expense on the spec sheet. Stopping power is delivered by 4-piston SRAM Maven Ultimate hydraulic brakes paired with 200 mm rotors front and rear, while a wireless 12-speed SRAM X0 Eagle AXS T-Type transmission handles shifting duties. With its electronic setup, gears can be shifted under load, offering potential advantages on steep off-road climbs. Suspension duties are managed by a 150 mm RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork up front and a RockShox Super Deluxe shock at the rear. The e-MTB rolls on a full 29-inch wheel setup shod with grippy Maxxis Assegai Exo+ tires.
