Elecom releases new semi-solid-state power bank

Elecom has released a new semi-solid-state power bank in Japan. The DE-C86-10000 is the first device of its kind from the brand. It has arrived several months after the company announced the world’s first power bank with a sodium-ion battery.
The Elecom DE-C86-10000 is equipped with a 10,000 mAh semi-solid-state battery (SSSB), which uses a gel-based electrolyte. This is said to offer a reduced risk of leaking compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, which in turn lowers the risk of a battery fire. Another safety feature of this charging accessory is its Health Monitor function, which tracks the number of charge cycles and flags when users should consider getting the device inspected or replaced. This is shown on the integrated display, which also shows the remaining battery level and charging status.
Other benefits of the Elecom DE-C86-10000’s SSSB include a longer battery life, estimated to be four times greater than an equivalent lithium-ion battery, and a wider operating temperature range of -15 to 45°C (~5 to 113°F). According to the brand, this power bank can charge an iPhone 17 1.8 times or a MacBook Air 13-inch M4 0.4 times. It has three ports - two up to 35W USB-C and a 22.5W USB-A - with a maximum combined output of 20W. Plus, it recharges via USB-C, with support for pass-through charging. The power bank measures 70 x 115 x 19 mm (~2.76 x 4.53 x 0.75 inches) and weighs around 220 g (~7.76 oz).
In Japan, the Elecom DE-C86-10000 series power banks retail for ¥8,480 (~$54). It is unclear whether or when this product could be released in other markets like Europe or North America, where the brand already sells devices like the Nestout Rugged Portable Charger, 5000mAh (curr. $44.99 at Amazon).
