Best known for its lineup of motherboards, cases, PSUs, and Nvidia graphics cards, EVGA only recently entered the laptop market with the launch of its 17.3-inch SC17 in 2016. The PC maker introduced a 15.6-inch version a year later through the SC15 complete with Kaby Lake and GTX 1060 graphics. At CES 2018, the manufacturer announced plans to update the SC15 with Coffee Lake-H and GTX 1070 Max-Q options.
Fast-forward six months later to Computex 2018 and things haven't really changed. We caught up with EVGA once again in Taiwan only to see a very similar SC15 on display with no new changes. The company is still promising the Core i7-8750H, GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics, 16 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, and a redesigned smoother outer lid. What's new is the addition of an Intel 9560 Wireless-AC WLAN module, but we cannot note anything else. Simply removing the bottom panel will not void the warranty while tampering with the SODIMM slots underneath the keyboard will.
EVGA had promised an April-May launch date for the refreshed SC15 when we spoke to them during CES. This particular model is still not available through the official EVGA website and so we'll just have to wait and see when the 2018 model will actually begin shipping.
