The SC17 is now available for pre-order for a hefty price of 3200 Euros. Specifications include a Core i7-6820HK CPU, GTX 980M GPU, and a 17.3-inch 4K UHD display.

Announced back in January at CES 2016, EVGA is finally making available its first gaming notebook to the mass market. The 17.3-inch SC17 will cost buyers 3200 Euros and is currently up for pre-order on the official EVGA online store in certain parts of Europe. The SKU carries the model number 758-21-2633-T3 with a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) display and aluminum chassis for a final weight and size of 3.7 kg and 408 x 295.5 x 26.9 mm, respectively.

According to the manufacturer, the system is a proprietary design and is not based on any existing barebone units such as those from MSI or Clevo. The "SC" in the model name stands for "Superclocked", which suggests that the CPU, RAM, and/or GPU may ship factory overclocked. Owners will otherwise have adjustable parameters via the user-friendly EVGA GUI BIOS. The EOC (EVGA Express OC) settings will also allow users to quickly underclock and overclock the system via the Up-Down keys on the keyboard.

Core specifications for the SC17 include:

  • 17.3-inch 4K UHD display
  • Core i7-6820HK CPU
  • GeForce GTX 980M w/ 8 GB GDDR5 VRAM
  • 32 GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • 256 GB M.2 NVMe SSD + 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD
  • 240 W external PSU

The EVGA notebook will compete directly against the likes of more established gaming notebooks like the Lenovo Y700, Acer Predator 17, MSI GT72S, and Asus G752.
