Last month we reported of many P20 Pro handsets having still not received EMUI 10, Huawei's in-house version of Android 10. The same was true of the P20 which, like the P20 Pro, started life running Android Oreo 8.1 courtesy of EMUI 8.1. Huawei claimed that it had begun rolling out EMUI 10 to both devices in March, but that release schedule only applied to select markets. Huawei confirmed that EMUI 10 would not reach the West Europe Open Market for the P20 or P20 Pro, for example, a promise on which it has duly delivered.
The OS upgrade has now started hitting some handsets in the UK. You can check whether EMUI 10 is ready to download by heading to Settings, System & updates, Software update and then clicking "Check for updates". As is the case with EMUI updates, Huawei is delivering EMUI 10 in batches. In our experience with the P30 Pro, Huawei may take several weeks or months before it delivers EMUI 10 to your P20 or P20 Pro. There is no easy way to manually upgrade Huawei devices to newer versions of EMUI, either.
The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro should also be eligible for EMUI 10, as should the PORSCHE DESIGN Mate RS. The same "pushing in batches" caveats to apply to these devices, too. Huawei is yet to start delivering the EMUI 10 upgrade to the PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 10, though. Android 10 may well be the final stop for all six devices, as Huawei typically only offers two OS upgrades for its devices.
