Dyson CameraJet sonic toothbrush makes flossing unnecessary
Dyson has unveiled what may be the world’s most advanced electric toothbrush. Although the Dyson CameraJet is even more expensive than the competitors’ flagship toothbrushes, such as the Philips Sonicare 9900 ($379 on Amazon), it offers features not found on any other sonic toothbrush.
That’s because Dyson has built a tiny camera directly into the brush head that detects when the toothbrush moves between two teeth. Although this camera isn’t particularly high-resolution, with just 0.1 megapixels, when combined with a machine-learning algorithm that analyzes 28 frames per second, this is said to be sufficient to detect an interdental space and, within 100 milliseconds, fire a conical jet of mouthwash designed to remove plaque from the spaces between the teeth.
The amount of mouthwash used is said to be so small that it’s barely noticeable – the toothbrush’s entire tank holds only 12.5 ml. Dyson emphasizes that this system works flawlessly even when the toothbrush is held at steep angles or upside down. The docking station not only charges the toothbrush but also refills the reservoir. Dyson also includes a travel case.

The Dyson CameraJet toothbrush is available now for a suggested retail price of $499 or €479. Dyson includes a charging dock with a cable and two brush heads.
