Japanese PC manufacturer, Dynabook, has announced its first laptop powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Plus processor. The Windows–on–ARM laptop is sold as the Dynabook XD5, and it is available in a classy blue hue.
The Dynabook XD5 is a 14-inch notebook with a TFT LCD anti-glare display with a 1920 × 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The XD5 has a 180° hinge, so users can lay the display flat, while its keyboard has a 2.0mm keystroke and features a 0.2mm indentation on each keycap.
Powering the XD5 is Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100, and it is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered) and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. It also comes with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage.
For ports, the notebook has a microSD card slot, a microphone/headphone combo jack, two USB 3.2 (Gen 1) Type-A ports, two USB 4 Type-C ports with support for Power Delivery, an HDMI port, and an RJ45 port. There's also Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, stereo speakers, dual microphones, and a 2MP webcam with support for Windows Hello face recognition. The webcam has a shutter to cover it when not in use.
Dynabook says the XD5 has a Lithium Polymer battery that can provide up to 16 hours of video playback on a single charge and last 28 hours in standby mode, and like the one inside the Dynabook Portege Z40-LN, this battery can be easily replaced by the user. The laptop supports 65W charging and comes with an AC adapter in the box.
The Dynabook XD5 ships with Windows 11 Home out of the box and has a Copilot key next to the left arrow key. It also comes with Dynabook's own AI assistant, which works on-device and doesn't require an internet connection.
The Dynabook XD5 is available to buy now for JPY 219,780 (~$1,395/€1,191).
