The Dell Latitude 3540 is a formidable gaming laptop. Put aside the software problems with the AMD drivers and you’ll get a very cost effective gaming laptop for $650 – $700 w/ coupons and even as low as $500 if you’ll go refurbished. A good keyboard, quiet operation and nice 1080p display. Moreover, thermals are good and the case does not get hot.

Everything is new. Dell's new entry-level business device comes with a matte IPS display, long battery runtimes and a large maintenance hatch. Priced at almost 900 Euros (~$987), it is not a cheap system though.

All in all, there are better options (like the ones we mentioned earlier), but if performance is all you care for, Latitude 15 3590 is the device for you. Also, we have to mention that warranty. In the following three years after purchasing, you can get your device serviced in less than 24 hours. Maybe they could have invested more in a better cooling?

Poor display, inefficient GPU. It's the least expensive 15-inch Latitude available and so cut corners are not unexpected. The number of drawbacks, however, may be a bit too much to bear. Find out what you'd be sacrificing when purchasing the Latitude 3590 instead of the pricier Latitude 5590.

Dell has introduced its newest incarnation of their office and business series 3000 to the market, and adds some new issues to the already well-known weak points of this range. Not only is the screen an issue with this latest version, which we would be unhappy with in a 400-Euro (~$456) budget laptop, but also other issues on the technical side. Aside from this, it has very good battery life. UPDATE 08.07.2019: The new BIOS version 1.9.8 changes thermal and fan levels with positive results.

On the other side, this laptop actually has something to brag about – the I/O. While it is free of Thunderbolt connectivity, there are plenty of useful connectors, like the RJ-45 one, a Type-C that can output a DisplayPort and an SD card reader. When this is combined with the PCIe x4 NVMe slot on the inside, the Latitude 3500 becomes a pretty strong machine.

Well, well, well… Honestly, we were not expecting so many corners to be cut, when we first got the notebook. But after thorough testing, and even in our first minutes with it, we saw stuff like poor build quality, executed with cheap materials. Also, the keyboard is one of the bad units out there, with its short key travel and mushy feedback.

So who is this laptop aimed at? Is it the business person that needs a secure laptop, or is it for companies, that are going to buy it in bulk? Well, we feel like it is the latter. And this is because of one thing in particular. While its simplistic design is visually appealing, the build quality is just not there. The base cracks and squeaks every time you twist it, which is definitely not a sign of attention to detail and structural rigidity. Dell Latitude 15 3520’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Unfortunately, it covers only 53% of the sRGB color gamut, and it uses relatively low-frequency PWM up to 89 nits. Thankfully, the more sensitive users can take advantage of our Health-Guard profile, which completely eliminates the issue. Apart from that, there are some pretty sweet features like the wide I/O, which may not include a Thunderbolt 4 connection, but offers a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2×2). This provides a 20Gbps speed, which is twice as fast as the USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.
In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.
For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
AMD Radeon HD 8850M: High-performance GPU based on the same chip as the HD 7850M.
NVIDIA GeForce 830M:
Mid-range graphics card from the GeForce 800M series based on the Maxwell architecture.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.
AMD Radeon 530: Entry class dedicated graphics card with 320 or 384 shaders (depending on the used chip) and DDR3 or GDDR5 graphics memory (both with a 64 Bit bus). Both chips are used for a few years, e.g. even starting with the Radeon 8590M (28nm GCN).
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 80 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 5500: Integrated graphics card (GT2) in the Core processors of the Broadwell U-series (15 W TDP).
