DJI Mavic 3 leaks with new cameras, a larger battery and longer flight times
While DJI has started teasing a 'Hi Five' launch event on September 8, YouTuber Dronemodelismo has leaked the company's next Mavic drone, the Mavic 3. Currently, it remains unknown when DJI will reveal the Mavic 3. However, the Mavic 2 series is now three years old, so we would not be surprised if DJI announced the Mavic 3 soon.
While Dronemodelismo's video does not showcase any hands-on footage of the Mavic 3, it does offer various specifications and detailed drawings of the drone. Apparently, the Mavic 3 has improved obstacle detection compared to its predecessor. Dronemodelismo asserts that DJI has completely revised this feature for the new model by switching to wide-angle lenses for the drone's front and rear cameras.
Additionally, the Mavic 3 is expected to feature new cameras created in collaboration with Hasselblad. Supposedly, the drone's main camera has a focal length equivalent to 24 mm and an f/2.8 aperture, which will help it shoot video footage in up to 5.7 K. Dronemodelismo adds that the Mavic 3's second camera will support up to 7x optical zoom too, with images stored on 1 TB of internal memory.
Moreover, Dronemodelismo states that the Mavic 3 has a 5,000 mAh or 6,000 mAh battery, a huge increase on the 3,850 mAh one in the Mavic 2 Pro. Accordingly, the Mavic 3 should be capable of flying for over 40 minutes on a single charge. DJI is expected to re-use its RC231 control from the Air 2S, for reference.
