Jasper Ellens and DroneDJ have leaked another upcoming DJI device, having published numerous details about the Mavic 3 series this week too. This time, the pair have showcased the Osmo Action 2, the successor to 2019's Osmo Action. While the Osmo Action resembled GoPro's Hero cameras, the Osmo Action 2 reminds us of GoPro's Hero Session cameras.
According to a leaked specification sheet, the Action 2 measures 39 x 39 x 22.3 mm and weighs 56 g. DJI has equipped the device with a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor, an f/2.8 aperture and a 155° field of view (FoV). The camera can shoot in up to 4,000 x 3,000 pixels with a 100-6,400 ISO range for photos and videos. Additionally, the camera can record videos in up to 4K at 120 FPS, with a peak frame rate of 240 FPS restricted to 1080p. There is no 5.3 K video support as there is with the Hero 10 Black. GoPro's latest camera has run into overheating issues, though.
The Osmo Action 2 also only supports electronic image stabilisation (EIS), which DJI refers to as Rocksteady 2.0 and HorizonSteady. Incidentally, content can be viewed on the device's 1.76-inch display, which operates at 446 x 424 pixels with a pixel density of 350 PPI.
It is unclear when DJI plans to launch the Osmo Action 2. Reputedly, the company will launch the Mavic 3 series on November 15, so we may see the Osmo Action 2 unveiled then, too.
