Cybertruck appears as new Tesla model at service centers as lifts and doors get upgraded for its dimensions
With the new Cybertruck appearing as an option in drop-off forms at Tesla service centers, as well as reports for upgraded repair lifts or widened showroom doors there, its launch now seems imminent. The Cybertruck has appeared next to the Tesla S/3/X/Y models in the yellow line of the form.
Tesla's first electric pickup and first new model in 3 years was tipped to be out "in 3 to 4 weeks" a few days ago, pegging its release date for September, just as Elon Musk promised this spring.
Tesla is rumored to announce the first Cybertruck deliveries to a series of industry influencers and other prominent clients, while its centers around the country are expected to get 5 or 6 units each for display and test drives. Tesla appears to be making at least 10 Cybertrucks a day now and loads them on trailers to ship them out for early deliveries or testing.
Elon Musk is expected to take the stage at Giga Austin in the last two weeks of September for a delivery event, and announce the Cybertruck price and complete specs list, as well as the initial trim levels it will launch with. Since employees are reportedly been asked whether they'd like the dual- or tri-motor versions, the Cybertruck's starting price is said to be US$75,000, at least for the high-end launch trims.
The Cybertruck is expected to be powered by a 4680 battery pack with average capacity of 100 kWh, according to Tesla's $10T Master Plan 3 listing for its category. Its high-end trims would propel the heavy stainless steel body from 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds, though, according to Tesla's teaser.
