Broken-down Tesla Cybertruck exposes suspension system in series of passerby spy shots

Photos of a ditched Tesla Cybertruck have been shared online, with the likely release candidate obviously having had some engine problems and left covered at the roadside near Los Altos Hills in California. According to a report from Electrek, a Tesla engineer tried to solve the problem with the Cybertruck but had to resort to covering it and leaving the vehicle at the side of the road in the dirt. This gave an opportunity for a curious bystander to snap some sneaky shots of the forlorn truck.

As can be seen in the images below, the Tesla Cybertruck is covered with a reflective sheet, but it is also clear that the vehicle does have a familiar camouflage pattern on it, leading to the opinion that it could be a release candidate or even a prototype that has been involved in terrain testing in other parts of the world. A couple of shots of the bottom of the Cybertruck reveal a grouping of holes that could be in place for something like a truck reversing speaker.

In a further report from the same source, a host of Tesla Cybertruck suspension shots are shared, fortunately with some additional information obtained from a former suspension engineer. According to the expert, the Cybertruck’s suspension is described as “the rear lower A-arm is in 2 pieces of welded steel, different to the casting at the front”, while “there seems to be an actuator to modify the damping dynamically”. The comments about the Cybertruck suspension are generally positive (basically simple but robust), although it is pointed out that it could be a prototype system.
