Cubot GT5: Sports smartwatch with offline maps and music now available for $96

Cubot has just launched a new sports smartwatch, the Cubot GT5. Priced at $96, this makes it a relatively affordable wearable, especially considering its extensive range of advertised features. The inclusion of offline maps is definitely not a given in this price range. Combined with the GNSS module, which supports dual-band operation and a total of five satellite navigation systems, this allows for navigation more or less independently of a smartphone. Users can also receive notifications if they deviate from a planned route.
The Cubot GT5 also features an electronic altimeter/barometer, allowing users to receive warnings about rapid changes in air pressure, which can also indicate impending changes in weather. The GT5 sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that is reportedly water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 ATM. Music can be stored on the internal memory, which is rather limited at 256 MB. The optical sensors can supposedly measure heart rate and also heart rate variability; how well these function is another question and can only be determined in real-world testing. The manufacturer states a battery life of up to 30 days in ultra-power-saving mode, but as 12 days under typical use. Those looking for a proven model in the same price range may find the Amazfit Active 2 to be an appealing alternative.
