Chefee Robotics has opened preorders for its robotic kitchen chef system that automates ingredient ordering and meal preparation. A quick selection on a mobile app instructs the kitchen robot to cook meals from over fifty locally-sourced fresh and refrigerated ingredients. The system can be installed on a countertop or integrated with the cabinetry and is priced from $10,000.

Chefee Robotics has opened preorders for its robotic kitchen chef system that automates ingredient ordering and meal preparation. The system includes an ingredients dispenser, robotic arm, electric cooktop, and AI camera. A quick selection on a mobile app instructs the kitchen robot to order ingredients, list meal ideas, or cook meals from over fifty fresh and refrigerated ingredients.

Locally-sourced ingredients are kept in food storage bins above the cooktop with spices. A refrigerated section holds perishable ingredients. The base system can hold about seventy pounds of 50 to 80 individually-selected ingredients. Chefee monitors ingredient stock and can automatically order replenishments through services such as Instacart or Amazon Fresh.

A meal selection from over five thousand recipes on the smartphone app or a verbal command through smart home speakers begins the meal preparation, with options to control spice level, specify dietary restrictions, choose cuisines, and limit choices by available cooking time. The robotic arm cannot do complex cooking, and the induction pot limits the types of dishes that can be made, so the system is currently limited to preparing healthy dishes like curries, paellas, noodles, couscous, and salads.

A robotic arm opens one of the three induction cooking pot covers, using it as a bowl to collect necessary ingredients dispensed from above, and a filtered water line provides clean cooking water. The system automatically controls the temperature and cooking process for up to three simultaneous meals while an AI-powered camera monitors the progress to inform the homeowner when the dishes are ready.

The robotic arm and cooktop can be installed on a countertop or integrated with the countertop, while the ingredients dispenser replaces overhead cabinets. A free-standing option is also available. At this time, clean up falls upon the owner because the robotic chef does not wash the dishes, cooking pots, or ingredient bins.

The Chefee home robotic chef is priced from $10,000, and interested readers can preorder the Chefee for $250. The system is under beta development, so specifications can change at any time.

Readers who wonder what they’ll eat during a disaster when Chefee doesn’t work should stock up on emergency rations (like these on Amazon) for tasty meals without cooking. The super rich might want to follow 1X Robotics since it has demonstrated a humanoid robot that can bake cookies on its own.
