Aescape expands installations of its AI massage therapist robots to Miami
Aescape has expanded installation of its AI massage therapist robots to the Kimpton EPIC Hotel in Miami. The robot provides personalized body massages without a human therapist or operator present. This follows the robot's debut earlier this year across Equinox clubs in New York.
The Aescape massage robot utilizes two robotic arms positioned next to and above the massage bed to deliver full body massages. A camera scans the customer's body across 1.2 million points to know where the muscles and body tissues are located. Customers wear Aerwear body suits that are similar to yoga clothing to eliminate any unwanted exposure during the massage. The body suit also eliminates the contact friction of the robotic massager on the skin.
The massage robot uses Aerpoint surfaces instead of hands to deliver massages. Each Aerpoint has seven different surface shapes heated to 95º F (35º C) to deliver precise pressure application during massages. A variety of massage programs can be selected, and more will be added over time. Customers can customize their 15 to 120 minute sessions by adjusting the intensity, pressure, and location of massages. The ambient music, lighting, and massage table (armrest, bolster, and headrest) can also be adjusted. All session settings are stored for instant recall at the next visit.
The Aescape system requires an 8 by 10 foot room, a 120V 5A power connection, and a 2MB/s Internet connection. Aescape notes the cost of the rented machine is $84,000 per year, and companies can break even by making two appointments or about $230 per day. The company provides a ROI calculator for a more accurate cost-of-ownership estimate. The Kimpton has priced the 15-minute session from $40 and the 60-minute session from $140. Readers without an Aescape AI robotic massage therapist nearby can try a heated chair massager pad like this one on Amazon.
