Canon PowerShot V10 gets rugged SmallRig cage and accessories for social media influencers

SmallRig has unveiled its Cage Kit for the Canon PowerShot V10 vlogging camera, and, while it doesn't turn it into a full-frame video powerhouse, the kit elevates the point-and-shoot camera by adding a host of accessory and camera mounting points, turning it into a much more versatile device. The accessory kit will be on pre-order until May 31, after which it will transition to proper sales, according to Canon Rumors.

SmallRig's Cage Kit for the Canon PowerShot V10 is a small fibre-reinforced plastic cage that wraps around the majority of the edge of the PowerShot V10, making it far more durable on top of expanding its versatility. The cage gives users access to four 3/4"-20 threaded mounts — on the side and bottom for vertical and horizontal shooting — and two cold shoe adapters that mount to the threaded holes.

In addition to the cage, the kit contains a silicone lens cap and soft carry bag for worry-free storage and two furry windshields and magnetic mounting plates for better audio recording. While the cage wraps around the camera's edges pretty comprehensively, it still leaves an open space for the folding kickstand, meaning you are not limited to a tripod or selfie stick via the threaded holes when the cage is equipped.

Despite SmallRig generally opting for aluminium for its cages, it seems as though the decision to go with plastic instead was motivated by weight savings, since the cage kit only weighs in at 54 g (1.9 oz). Plastic probably helped keep the cost down a little, too, as the SmallRig Cage Kit for the Canon PowerShot V10 is only $37.90 until May 31, after which it will cost US43.90.
