The M5-powered Apple iPad Pro dropped less than two weeks ago, packing the latest M5 SoC which promises modest CPU and truly impressive GPU gains. The brand-new tablet has already received its first-ever discount on Amazon, which slashes $50 off its price tag, bringing it down to $949.
Tick-tock: Spec-bump in the purest sense
Compared to the previous M4-equipped variant, very little has changed. Apart from the new M5 SoC, the new Apple iPad Pro supports 120 Hz external displays, WiFi 7, and much faster SSDs. Performance has never been an issue with any iPad Pro in recent history, and the same applies to the M5 variant - the product is fast, snappy, and can handle almost any workload that someone might throw its way. The tandem OLED display leaves no room for complaints either.
Our in-depth review of the M5 iPad Pro paints a pretty positive picture, although two major complaints linger. There is no doubt that iPadOS 26 is the biggest update to have ever graced the product, but software support, especially regarding certain Pro-level workflows which could easily take advantage of the M5's raw performance, remains hit or miss. Further, the tablet's pricing skyrockets when kitted out with a keyboard and other accessories, which might make some people believe they will be better off with a MacBook instead.
That said, the M5 iPad Pro is most certainly a pretty compelling product, especially for folks who can take advantage of its touchscreen display paired with the Apple Pencil. More substantial discounts will most likely arrive in the coming months, but those who need it sooner can already save a nice chunk of change for a limited time. Interested customers are definitely advised to refer to our review of the M5 iPad Pro before making their purchase.
