Borderlands 4 will not be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 for a long time

Despite suffering from several technical issues, Borderlands 4 is a game that is very popular with gamers. But if this title were also to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3, 2025, this news is likely to disappoint thousands of gamers around the world.

Indeed, on X, the official Borderlands account announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version would be delayed and that there was no need to hope for a release date, as no information has been revealed on the subject. Regarding the reasons for this delay, the following was specified: 

"We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans."

In other words, the game did not meet expectations, and further developments are required for this to be the case. In addition, for players who have already pre-ordered Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2, all orders will be canceled on September 26, and a refund will be issued.

It therefore remains to be seen whether the developers will be able to fix these various issues and whether the game will be released on this console in good condition. And this, in order to meet the expectations of players who are eager to play it.
