The BW-AG1 are a new pair of smart glasses that sport a sensor for heart rate measurement. A photochromic version is also available, so users do not need to carry sunglasses.
BlitzWolf has launched a new smart pair of glasses called the BW-AG1. This gadget doesn’t have a built-in display, which means these are not AR glasses, strictly speaking. That being said, a microphone and speakers are onboard, so voice assistants can be used without a connected smartphone. This feature is also offered by many headphones. Either way, the BW-AG1 retail for roughly $40.
Photochromic lenses available
Several model variants are available and come with different lenses. Depending on the version, these lenses are either clear or tinted. Aside from a classic pair of sunglasses, there is also a version with red and one with photochromic lenses. Simply put, the latter is an automatic pair of sunglasses whose lenses change their color in sunlight. That means users might not have to carry around an extra pair of sunglasses.
UV and heart rate sensor
Speaking of sun, the BW-AG1 also come with a UV sensor that is supposed to measure sun exposure. We cannot comment on the accuracy of these measurements, although such sensors are not particularly complex. The sun exposure is consequently displayed in the accompanying smartphone app and allows users to identify high UV radiation and take protective measures. Moreover, these smart glasses can optically measure heart rate and oxygen saturation.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
