MediaTek unveiled its new Dimensity series a couple of weeks ago as its first 5G-capable SoC lineup. As is becoming typical of MediaTek chipsets, the new Dimensity 1000L manages to handily outperform its closest rival, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G.

MediaTek launched the Dimensity 1000L a short while ago, as a toned version of the company's flagship Dimensity 1000. It's positioned against the Snapdragon 765G and a new benchmark sighting has shown it laying down the law when pitted against Qualcomm's new sub-premium offering.

Going by AnTuTu benchmark results between the Snapdragon 765G-powered OPPO Reno 3 Pro and the Dimensity 1000L-powered OPPO Reno 3, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L has a handy advantage over the competition.

In the CPU test, the Dimensity 1000L recorded a score of 126,692, while the Snapdragon 765G came off with a score of 102,230. That's a 24% advantage in favor of the MediaTek SoC.

While MediaTek uses Mali GPUs that are typically worse than Qualcomm's Adreno series, the Dimensity 1000L also manages to outperform the Snapdragon 765G graphically. Its score of 99,250 shows a 6% advantage over the Snapdragon 765G and its score of 93,977.

Raw numbers in consideration, it's a tad amusing that the Reno 3 outperforms the Reno 3 Pro. So much for being the "Pro" model.

MediaTek has come a long way since it chose to ditch its Helio X-series in favor of smoothing out efficiency issues in its lineup. The Helio G90T outperforms the Snapdragon 730G, and the new Dimensity 1000L does the same with the Snapdragon 765G. They're also a lot cheaper. A climb towards the top could be on the cards for MediaTek.
